Malta
Malta has so much history as well as being geographically past of Africa it is the southernmost part of mainland Europe.
People have lived on Malta since 5900 BC when the first Neolithic settlers came from Sicily, however, it is presumed that before the Mediterranean flooded, that Paleolithic man, who would have seen Malta as a mountain, would have walked there from as it would have formed part of Sicily and Italy.
Malta makes a great place to go for a first holiday.
It has sandy beaches, near-constant sunlight and the cuisine is an eclectic mixture of many of the different peoples that have colonised these beautiful islands throughout history.
It has also been an important trade centre as well as in a strategic position at times of war which is probably why it has been so popular for colonisation over the hundreds of years it has been inhabited
